# Locks

**Value Reference**

* 1 KELL locked for 1 year = 0.25 veKELL.
* 1 KELL locked for 2 years = 0.50 veKELL.
* 1 KELL locked for 3 years = 0.75 veKELL.
* 1 KELL locked for 4 years = 1.00 veKELL.

veKELL is an NFT encompassing the locked KELL. To vote for gauges and reap rewards like trading fees, bribes, and rebase, you require veKELL. Its value hinges on metrics such as the amount of locked KELL, duration of the lock, voteable emissions, price, and other factors. Being an NFT, veKELL can be transferred between wallets like any other NFT, but prior to that, you must reset the associated votes linked to the NFT.

### Manage Your Locks

* **Add KELL**\
  Increase the amount of KELL locked in a veKELL to increase voting power.
* **Extend**\
  Ensure that your locks don't unintentionally expire by extending their duration regularly, either weekly or monthly, based on your initially selected locking period. This practice will also ensure that your voting power remains at its maximum capacity consistently.&#x20;
* **Transfer**\
  Transfer the NFT between wallets as you would with any other NFT, but be sure to reset your votes before initiating the transfer.
* **Reset**\
  Use the Reset Votes button when you need to transfer, merge (only the top NFT in this process), or withdraw an expired lock.
* **Withdraw**\
  This option is only visible for expired locks. Make sure to reset your votes before withdrawing.

If your lock *is* ***expired***, you can withdraw your KELL from it. \
However, before proceeding, two crucial steps must be completed:

1. Claim all the rewards associated to the expired veKELL. \
   Please perform it proactively before expiration to prevent any issues.
2. Reset the Votes associated to the expired veKELL.
